Chopsticks vs Trees

How many chopsticks can be manufactured out of a tree?

I was thinking about that this morning, so I google it!

There is one article that says:
"China is the world's leading maker of disposable wooden chopsticks. It produces 45 billion pairs each year. That translates into an annual loss of roughly 25 million trees."

So 45000/25 = 1800 chopsticks.... Only 1800 pairs of chopsticks?

It has been a while...

I guess it really has been a while, huh? I've been wanting to update the blog for a while, but laziness has been keeping me from doing so... (please don't kill me! -_-"")~ But I've finally gathered the courage to post some type of update. :)

Well... it is VACATIONS after all! woohooo! I know many people stayed back in Korea for either summer courses or internships, but as for me... I'm back in my own country seeing family and old friends as well as trying to finally get my driver's license. *sigh*~ Either way, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer breaks!

Now on to the actual "stuff"....
Honestly, although I do try check what seems to be going on in Korea I don't seem to get a lot of news from my sources. ^^"~ BUT... I do know that there was an Usher concert some time ago just after vacations started. And also there was the Jisan Valley Rock Festival, I believe. The exact dates of each I certainly do not remember! heh... Either way~~ the only meaningful event that I believe is gonna come up is the INCHEON PENTAPORT ROCK FESTIVAL and its going to go on for 3 days (23rd~25th of this month). I don't know many of the bands that are playing except for two or three of them, but Hoobastank will be there! 8D~ If you are by any chance interested in going here is the link for more information: http://www.pentaportrock.com/

Also I've got some news for those who are interested on going to LOTTE WORLD this summer! Just after vacations started, before I left Korea, I found out some really good information accidentally together with a Korean friend of mine... We found out that if a Korean takes a Foreigner to the park, they both get 50% discount! now... Isn't that NICE?!~ Although I don't really understand the reason for the whole thing, I certainly didn't complain about paying only half of the price of the actual ticket... hehe~ Oh! And if I'm not wrong, I think Everland offers a discount for foreigners. I believe you have to go to the website and print a coupon or something. So if you plan to go to Everland it would be cool to check the official website for any possible discounts that might be available. :)

I do believe I've pretty much covered everything...

Spring Updates & Upcoming Concerts

Whoa... it has been a while, huh? I guess work has been quite overwhelming and made it so that this blog was abandoned. hehehe~ But I'm here to make just a brief update.

So~ What has been going on?
Well, it's finally officially SPRING!
KAIST is filled with bloomed cherry blossom trees and it is sooo beautiful (especially around the north part of campus). The weather itself it is still kinda crazy, though. Sometimes it gets really cold and the next day it simply becomes really warm. Yeah, I guess this is spring?

Well, also, last week was the STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL! (wait... was it really last week? o_o~ oh well... not long ago.) And well, it was quite good for all the strawberry lovers. 8P~ Many departments and clubs had their own little strawberry party. It was all very fun... There would always be people outside just chilling out and eating strawberries. lol

Oh! And spring also brings SPRING FESTIVAL, right? Yeah, spring festival was supposed to be this coming week, but it seems it has been canceled for the mourning of those who died because of the Korean ship that sinked some time ago. So yeah... Spring festival has been postponed for next month, I believe. ^^"

As for upcoming concerts in Korea... there are a couple. XD"
1. Andrea Bocelli - May 2nd, prices vary from 100,000 won to 290,000 won.
2. Kelly Clarkson - May 4th, price: 77,000~132,000 won.
3. Deep Purple - May 10th, price: 70,000~130,000 won. (but there is 10% discount for those who are older than 35 and students. ^^)
4. Flo Rida - May 21st & 22nd, price: 77,000~140,000 won.
5. MIKA - June 12th, price: 77,000~99,000 won.
Tickets are on sale on interpark.com. It seems that a couple of them have English booking, so look for that... it might make your life easier, right? ;D

I'm guessing this is all that I have to share..
Hopefully this blog won't die any time soon. ^^

More Complains...

Today in my morning class the professor came to the room, prepared his powerpoint slides, took the microphone and said "I am going to change the class time from tue and thu to mon, wed and fri". Many people started complaining and he just said something like "I can't satisfy everyone".

The professors have to post their course schedule at least 2 months before the semester starts, so the students have time to organize themselves and the professors can arrange their schedules. However it seems like my professor forget it and he decided that 50 students have to change their timetables to satisfy him. Well, that mess up with my whole timetable and nothing I can do.

If there is one thing I can assure u is that in Kaist professors are Gods.

That's it and I hope my next post will have some good news.

New year, old problems

And the semester started again.

It is always good to meet my friends again, especially after one semester away from kaist. Also it is really nice to see how kaist is growing fast, the number of buildings increasing and so many new students.

However it has been already three years since I came to kaist and a few problems are never solved. For example the menu of webcais in the website is still in Korean. It is unbelievable they haven't changed that yet. Another problem is the confusing registration during this period, we have to fight for the professor's signature and it seems that nobody sees that these problems happen every year. Why can't they solve such important things?

Beside all that I hope you all have a great semester.

Going Back, 2010 and NO The Killers

Hey Y'all!! It has been a while, huh?
Wow... first month of 2010 is basically over! hard to believe, huh? Sadly, that also means that it is time to go back to the hectic days of studying! woohoo? Right now everyone is starting to go back to Korea so that they can settle in their dorms to start the new semester... And like everyone else, I'm also getting ready to go back. (Not very willing to do so, though. I would love to have one more month of vacations! lol~) To whoever is going to KAIST (or coming back) I'll see you guys around on Feb~ :)

2010... many new things for this year!! (And hopefully lots of good things to come!)
We all already know that the CS101 course is changing to Python. But I've also heard some things about Freshman Design not being mandatory anymore starting with the people that come in on '10. I'm not so sure about this rumour, but I'm hoping it's not true... Everyone should go through the wonders of doing Freshman Design because it is such an A.MA.ZING. course! (I hope you caught the sarcasm there...)~ I mean, I have nothing against the course, but it is a lot of work! Although I it was quite interesting and refreshing at the end, it was also quite... challenging throughout the semester. I've suffered with it together with many other people, so I think it would not be fair to make it NOT-mandatory from now on. (yes, I'm being extremely selfish...)~ I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens?

I remember posting about how THE KILLERS were coming to Korea for a concert on Feb. 6th... now guess what!!! THE CONCERT WAS CANCELLED! oh yeah... CANCELLED! I'm very... VERY upset. T_T~ And I'm sure I'm not the only one in Korea that is upset. *sigh* I've heard that they've actually cancelled their whole Asian Tour. Why? I have NO IDEA. I just know that I'm upset that I won't be able to see them live... and that sucks.

Sorry everyone.. I always seem to write long posts. I guess it is of my nature to write too much. T_T~ I thank anyone who takes their time to read all my babbles... so THANK YOU. Oh... and comments are always welcome! I see that many people come around, but no one comments. o_o~ feel free to comment, everyone! It doesn't matter in which language you do so... lol

ok... enough of babbles.
NAT IS OUT!

Time to go back

Hello everyone,

vacation is almost over, so it is time to pack the bags and go back to Korea. In one week I am leaving Brazil, but this time I am very happy to go, this is because next time I will return to Brazil I will be graduated. I know I still have at least one year more to go, but I like to think about the possibility of graduation.

Take care and see u soon...
