GREEN DAY to hold a CONCERT in KOREA

The title says it all...
Green Day will have their FIRST concert in Korea!!!!
If you are a Green Day fan and you are in Korea, this is your chance!
The concert will take place on January 18th, 2010.
I don't know where the tickets will be sold yet or how much they will be, though. I got the info from a friend's post on Facebook and I researched a little about when it was going to be and I found the information o lastfm.com about their tour. (I seems they will also be having concerts in many cities in Japan too.)

sucks that I won't be here to go to the concert... *sigh*
but for whoever is interested and will be around Korea in January... GO GO GO! :D

this is all, folks!!

and now presenting... Mnet's 3rd season of the program "KAIST"

It seems that having Jewelry's 서인영 (Seo InYoung) as a KAIST student in 2008 was not enough! This time, Mnet's "KAIST" program is bringing 카라(Kara)'s Nicole to become a KAIST student on its 3rd season. (2nd season was with Mc Mong, but it seems he didn't actually come to KAIST... I don't really have many details.)

If you don't know Kara... I shall introduce now! 카라 is a Korean female idol group... and well, right now they are a big hit because of their song MISTER. What's so good about the song? heh... Basically, it has a catchy-brainwashing melody (don't worry if you catch yourself singing the "lalalala"s during the day). But actually, it is the choreography that seems to please the audience the most(well... at least the male audience!). WHY? Well... some people call it the "sexy butt dance". If it is really sexy or not, that is for you to decide. I would rather keep my opinions to myself. lol~ But here is a video in case you are curious:

(by the way... Nicole is the one that has short hair.)

So I'm guessing we will be seeing some cameras and crazy fanboys around the campus next semester? Maybe a dose of the so-called "sexy butt dance" during the '10 Spring Semester opening ceremony? (I have no idea how the ceremony works, actually. They didn't have one for the Fall semester. ¬¬)~ either way, I guess we will have to wait and see, huh?

and now I'll stop ditching my Java & Bio books and go back to studying~ lol
and I'M OUT~

Comics

This post is dedicated to show two awesome comics’ websites: PhD comics and Roketship. The fist one illustrates the life of a grad student, with a delightful sense of humor the strips take you into the grad student’s world and all the challenges and happiness that exists in it.

These are just random samples that I took from the website:

You can visit it at www.phdcomics.com, but be careful because as the website warns you “reading the entire archive can be hazardous to your research. Proceed with caution and use only in moderation.”

The second comics’ website is the Roketship. Luke Martin is an English teacher that is working for a long time in Korea, through his comics he shows how life in Korea is interesting and awkward sometimes. The last 3 months he didn’t publish any new strips, but I checked the website now and he is back. The latest strips are awesome and you can take a look at www.roketship.com, if you lived or are living in Korea you will understand and laugh a minute.

Updates, Babbles and Concerts

first things first...
I finally took some time to edit the layout of our blog a little. (Although I only messed around with the colors to make it look more like... soju? hahah)~ Either way... it's probably not going to stay like this forever. Hopefully I'll find a way to make the layout nicer soon. :)

on to other stuff...
Right now it's actually midterm week in KAIST! woohoo!! fun, right?! well... not really. It is killing me. And it seems that all the Koreans simply lock themselves in their rooms for the whole day and don't even go out to eat (yay for instant food?)... I've tried that before and trust me, it is not so pleasant! The undergraduate library seems to be really full lately too, though I haven't been there... but it's what people have been telling me.

Although I'm only taking 3 exams this time (Math, Bio and Java), it feels like way more! I should warn everyone that is coming to KAIST in the next semesters to NEVER take Java, Bio and Freshman Design all at once. It eats up all your energies! The work load is amazingly huge and if you put it together with another design course things get pretty crazy!(yeah, I was crazy enough to put all the time-consuming subjects together all at once. heh)~ And you see... when you are a foreigner things seem to build up on you even more. Why? Well... simply because your ENGLISH is better. But nothing is impossible... :)~ but it sure is stressful sometimes.

soo... riight!!
I was actually looking at korean ticket-selling websites(auction.co.kr & interpark.com) today to see if there might be anything interesting... and I indeed found something that might spark an interest in those who are in Korea. It seems MIKA is going to have his first concert in Korea on November 28th! Ticket sale starts on the 27th of this month, it costs 99,000 won and you can buy it at auction.co.kr~ Honestly, I don't really know much about MIKA, but I have seen some of his music videos and his music is quite interesting. :)

Also, like Bruno said on the last post, there will be a Guns 'n' Roses concert in Korea too! The ticket sales already started and the price varies from 110,000 to 132,000 won and you can buy it at interpark.com~ and yeah... for concerts this is all that is coming up!

I'll end this post with an interesting picture that I took 2 weeks ago at a huge mall that opened up at Youngdeungpo, Seoul:

Oh yes...
There was actually a line in front of the Louis Vuitton shop! Usually you would think that with these type of shops something such as this would never happen, but guess what: IT DOES! At least in Korea it does... haha.

By the way... the mall itself is really nice too! (and it is also western-style)~ the name is Times Square, I believe... its from the 신세계(Shinsegae) branch. :)~ The movie theater there is awesome too. the advertisement says it has the largest screen in the world!~ If you want to go drop by to take a look, the he subway station it is close to is called Youngdeungpo Station (영등포역).

this is all, folks!

ACDC in Brazil and Guns in Korea!!!

Few weeks ago Koji said “AC/DC is coming to Sao Paulo”, right at that moment we both decided “we are going”. They started selling the tickets 3 weeks ago, it was midnight and we were waiting the website start selling it, but guess what? The website went down. Millions were accessing the website at the same time and it could not support. While the website was down me and Koji were clicking “refresh” every second and when tired clicking we started pressing F5. Finally around 3AM Koji did it, he bought two tickets for the show. Now we have to wait until the end of November, it will be great I am sure. Unfortunately tickets are sold out, but for the Brazilians interested to go to the show they might try the show in Buenos Aires.

The good news for those in Korea that like old and classic rock n roll is that Guns n’ Roses will be in Korea on December, 13. If you have the chance you can’t lose this opportunity. Nat showed me this link where you can buy the ticket for the show:

Rock and Roll is never gonna die =)

First Second Post

Alright, Kemper online now!

Just testing the post system and my ID. And by the way, I will be writing in portuguese as well on my other blog: www.facildelembrar.blogspot.com (still no new posts since 2007, but I will write soon)

Later folks!

First Post

This first post is just to test how blogspot works and to create an incentive to Paulo and Nathalia to start blogging too, I didn't talk to Koji yet about this idea, right now he is getting drunk in Peruada.

We still have to find a nice layout and the best font format, but I won't waste too much on time on that now, because Nat is the most indicated person to do that.

This is a "communitary" blog, where we will share our experiences with the intent to help people that are coming to Korea (especially to KAIST) and to tell a little bit about what we doing in this side of the world.

This is just the beginning, let it rock and stick with us =)
